Feeder Unit Export – CTO Australia

CTO Australia successfully executed the end-to-end handling of a heavy feeder
machine exported from Sydney, Australia to Nhava Sheva, India, using a 40’ Flat Rack
(40FR). The operation involved precise handling, heavy equipment coordination and
certified cargo securing in line with international maritime standards.

Feeder machine weighed a gross weight of 36 Tons & Dims of 1130 x 320 x 152 cm.

Cartage & Equipment Mobilisation
The feeder unit was collected from the client’s premises using a low-loader trailer
capable of accommodating out-of-gauge (OOG) equipment. CTO arranged for
appropriate machinery including forklifts and mobile cranes to load the unit under
controlled conditions.

Flat Rack Loading
The feeder was positioned on a 40′ High Cube Flat Rack using precision lifting under a
pre-approved lift plan. Heavy-duty timber dunnage and rubber matting were placed to
distribute the weight evenly across the container floor beams.

Lashing & Securing
The unit with a total weight of approx. 32,000 kg, was secured using:

  • 14 x 10 mm marine-grade lashing chains (LC: 5,000 kg each)
  • Cross lashing at the front and rear sections to flat rack lugs & Body lashing
across side lugs for additional stability.
  • Timber wedges chocked and nailed at both ends to prevent longitudinal
    movement.
  • An additional wooden crate (1,800 kg) strapped on top using 2 x 2.5-ton nylon
    straps
These measures complied with IMO/CTU Code lashing standards, certified by an
    independent marine surveyor.

Cargo Survey & Certification
A full cargo inspection was carried out by a Marine surveyor, confirming:

  • Lashing integrity.
  • Flat rack suitability and condition (no structural damage)
  • OOG dimensions: Over-wide by 35 cm each side, No over-height.
  • Cargo readiness for international sea freight
